Springtown Bank Robber Caught in Bridgeport

Two Wise County Sheriff’s Office Deputies located the bank robbery suspect who had reportedly robbed the Springtown First Bank this morning. The suspect Robert C Joplin, 18, of Springtown had pulled into the Dry Creek Convenience Store in Bridgeport to get a drink when Deputies Tony Rogers and Mark Adams placed him under arrest. The deputies were advised of the bank robbery information and the vehicle description and were maintaining a routine patrol of the area when the officers spotted the suspect vehicle. The arrest was made without incident.

The suspect was taken to the Springtown Police Department and released to members of the FBI and the Federal Task Force who have now taken Robert Joplin to the Tarrant County Jail. Lt Ed Crowdis of the Springtown Police Department stated that the Communications Departments were instrumental in the quick arrest of the suspect, by relaying the information to the area law enforcement officers, the suspect and vehicle description allowed for an informed response by the officers.

” Without the quick response from the communication departments this arrest would not have been possible “ Lt Crowdis stated.  There were no weapons involved and no one was hurt.  An undisclosed amount of currency from the bank was recovered.

We here at the Wise County Sheriff’s Office are very proud of the job these officer’s do everyday but when a very dangerous and potentially life threaten situation is resolved without injury to the public or the officers, It’s A Good Day For All.
