03-21-06   Old Greenwood School Bldg Damaged

On March 16th, 2006, Wise County, Deputy D Tinker was dispatched to 2591 FM Rd. 1204 in reference to a burglary report. Upon arrival he met with the Gary Dietz and his wife, Vivian of Saginaw.  The Dietz are in the process of purchasing the Old School Building in the Greenwood area.  

The Dietz advised Deputy Tinker that unknown suspect/s broke into the buildings and caused damage to some items in and around the buildings. 

The Dietz are planning to renovate the property upon their purchase of the property. Concern was voiced that the actors who had caused the damage were local people and the actors were using the property as a party facility. The Dietz were concerned about potential thefts from the property during upcoming construction. This last incident of burglary of the property had occurred sometime in the past week.  

Deputy Tinker saw a broken beer bottle stuck in a broken window on the front of the main school building. Some of the globes from the ceiling fans were stolen. There were two custom sinks in the gymnasium. One of the sinks was destroyed. Cleaning supplies were taken from the front foyer area.

 Outside, behind the school building there was a bathtub, toilet and a skylight, which were destroyed. Deputy Tinker observed several Coors beer bottles near the bunkhouse on the west side of the property. In the bunkhouse there was damage to the toilets.   

An extra patrol of the property will be included in addition to routine checks of the area. The property is gated and sits on the south side of the road off the roadway. The buildings are not visible from the roadway.  

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone with information regarding the burglary or the damage to this property to contact the Wise County Sheriff’s Office at 940-627-5971 or Remain anonymous call Wise County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-643-8477. Wise County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000.00 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a suspect.
