Wise County Commissioners voted 3-0 Friday to lift the burn ban and all restrictions, including those pertaining to welding, during a brief meeting. Precinct 1 commissioner Robert Rankin made the motion to lift the burn ban, but he also wanted to emphasize to people to use " common sense" when burning. The burn ban had been in place since last summer. Precinct 3 Commissioner Mikel Richardson was not present for the meeting.

I spoke with Fire Marshal Paul Cunningham regarding the burn ban issue and his advise is that if you plan to burn something you need to make certain that you contact Wise County Dispatch 940-627-5971 and advise of the control burn and you stay with that burn if you leave the burn unattended the fire department will be sent and then possible citations issued. Fire Marshal Cunningham's advised to check the restrictions on the Texas Commission Environmental Quality website, www.tceq.com.
