Wise County Sheriff Office received information from a member of the Wise County Messenger staff that advised, Several business firms have reported getting telephone calls from out-of-county marketing companies trying to sell advertising on high school football calendars. Several schools have said the solicitations are not authorized by their athletic departments.

If you or your business is contacted and solicited for advertisement monies, get as much information as you can on the person calling along with business name and phone number advising you will forward the information to your local Sheriff's Office to follow up on and if the caller is creditable they will not mind. Ask these people to send you information through the mail that way you can review the material and decide whether you want to invest your money in the project. BE CAUTIOUS, Never send money to someone you do not know. Thanks to the Wise County Messenger for helping us to keep the citizens informed.
