Crime Stoppers Tip Pays Off
Several officers from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office went to a
residence in the 1300 block of US Hwy 81/287, in Decatur to serve an arrest
warrants on Ryan L Enos, 22 of Decatur.
There were two active traffic
related warrants out on Ryan Enos. Officers received a Crime Stoppers Tip that
Enos and Brandon L McColpin were selling Marijuana out of their residence.
Upon confirmation of active warrants on Ryan
Enos the officers went to the residence to serve the warrants. Officers
attempted to get an answer at the front door with no response and officers were
able to take Enos into custody as he exited the residence by the back door.
Enos was wet and wearing only his underwear. He advised officers he was
in the shower when officers were at the front door.
Enos asked to put on some clothes before being transferred to jail. The
narcotics officers followed Enos through the living room area and Enos stopped
to put an ashtray and a black box under the coffee table. The narcotics officer
noted what appeared to be marijuana in the ashtray. Officers checked the ashtray
and the black box and found that a green leafy substance was inside the ash tray was marijuana. Officers cleared the residence after making sure there were no
other occupants.
The narcotics officer went back to the office to write a search warrant
for the residence for any contraband and/or other illegal narcotics that may
have been in the residence. The officer presented an affidavit to Judge Terry
Johnson and received a search warrant for the residence.
Upon arriving at the residence the search warrant was executed. The
narcotics officer located a large plastic bag and a small plastic bag containing
a green leafy substance. Also found in the residence were three glass smoking
bongs, a glass smoking pipe and a
box of sandwich bags. Officers found digital scales and three pills identified
as Alprazolam a controlled substance, along with $70.00 in US currency.
As officers were executing the search warrant, Brandon L McColpin arrived at the
residence. McColpin was asked which rooms were his and he advised that his was
the front room. A glass bong was located in the entertainment center in
McCoplin’s bedroom. McCoplin stated to officers he and Enos were selling the
marijuana to help make more money.
In the
process of executing the search warrant an officer located a 1996 Honda four
wheeler that upon checking a serial number through the state wide computer
showed the four wheeler was stolen, so officers took possession of the four
wheeler and placed into evidence.
Officers transported
the suspected Marijuana back to the Sheriff’s Office where it was weighed.
Total weight including packaging on the suspected marijuana was 9.4
ounces (284grams)in all. Field testing on the suspected marijuana resulting in a
positive reaction for the presence of marijuana. Charges
of “Possession of a controlled substance PG1 over 1gram but less than 4
grams” and “ Possession of Marijuana over 4oz and under
5lbs” will be filed on both Ryan Enos and Brandon McCoplin with the 271st
