11-14-2007    Wise Eyes Alert-Warrant Notice List

It’s that time of year again; time to clear out the old warrants. If you suspect that you may have a warrant, now is the time to call the Sheriff’s Office to check. As in years past, Sheriff David Walker is going to offer an advance opportunity for you to take care of the warrants before the round up begins and you go to jail.  This will give those with outstanding warrants advance notice and will allow time for them to contact an attorney, make bond arrangements or pay an outstanding fine prior to their surrender.

The warrant list will be published in the “All Around Wise” Section of the Wise County Messenger on December 5th, 2007.    After the list has been published, a short amount of time will be given for those to make arrangements.  After the deadline has passed and at an undisclosed time, a warrant round up will commence.

Crime Stoppers will also pay up to $ 1,000 to people who provide information leading to the arrest and indictment of those with felony warrants. Walker cautioned people not to try to take the person into custody themselves, but rather call Wise County Crimestoppers at 940-643-8477 (TIPS) or 940-627-8477. You may remain anonymous.

Think you may have an outstanding warrant? Go to the Web page at http://srv-web/reserved/Warrants.asp and fill in the name and date of birth in the link. You can search your name and date of birth. For those without Internet service access, call Lt John Thompson at 940-627-5971.
