Photos from Second Annual Women's Day Below The Wise County Domestic Violence Task Force held its' Second Annual "Wise Women's Day" on Sunday, October 29, 2000. The Wise Women's Day is held to help raise awareness of the services offered by the Wise County Domestic Violence Task Force as well as to help raise funds to continue the services offered. The Wise County Domestic Violence Task Force has a full-time Victim Advocate and a part-time counselor; their services are offered to victims of violence free of charge. Services are available for both men and women. The Wise Women's Day was held at the National Guard Armory from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There were 29 vendors present to offer a variety of items to purchase. Several candidates running for local offices were on hand to visit one on one with everyone. Numerous area businesses donated items to be given as raffle prizes. The Task Force raised double the amount of money this year as was raised last year. The overall success of the Second Annual Wise Women's Day can be contributed to the people of Wise County who give so much support to such a worthy cause. With the continued support of the citizens of Wise County, the Domestic Violence Task Force will be able to achieve our ultimate goal of having a safe place for victims of Domestic Violence within our county, where victims can go and not have to lose everything in their lives that is important to them.
